Sixty Watt Shaman

Sixty Watt Shaman formed in Seattle during the 1990s, with vocalist and guitarist Tad Doyle at the center. Their sound pulled from punk's raw energy and the more expansive, psychedelic textures of bands like Pink Floyd, though they avoided being strictly tied to the grunge scene happening around them. Their 1995 self-titled debut got some attention for mixing heavy guitar work with more atmospheric, introspective writing.

In 1997, they put out the album 'A Perfect Day for a Perfect Day,' which included the song 'All Things Come to Pass.' That track became their most recognizable, built around a big, melodic chorus and lyrics that touched on change and time. Other songs from their catalog, like 'Bemis Manifesto' and 'Breathe Again,' showed a similar balance of weight and melody.

They kept recording into the early 2000s, with albums like 'Gathering of the Ancients' in 1999 and 'Reason' in 2002. The music stayed grounded in rock but often reached for a more spacious, almost spiritual feel, different from the straightforward aggression of some of their peers.
