Skies

Skies formed in Los Angeles in 2014 with Maja on vocals, Josh on guitar, Sam on bass, and Jake on drums. They started playing live shows around the city while working on their own material. Their song 'Leave Me' got some attention when it came out, and they eventually put together a debut album called 'Interstellar' that included that track along with others like 'Come Hell or High Water' and 'Running.'

Their music tends toward atmospheric alt-pop with Maja's vocals floating over layered guitars and steady rhythm work. The lyrics often deal with relationships and emotional states, which some listeners connected with while others found them a bit heavy. They kept at it through the usual indie challenges of building an audience without major label backing.

After 'Interstellar,' they continued writing and recording. The four members have stayed together through the years, which isn't always the case for bands that start out in their position. They haven't chased trends too aggressively, sticking with the moody, textured sound they developed early on.
