Skillet

Skillet formed in Memphis, Tennessee, with John Cooper on lead vocals and bass. The band's lineup includes Korey Cooper on guitar, Seth Morrison on lead guitar, and Jen Ledger on drums and vocals. Their 2006 album Comatose and 2009 album Awake established their sound in the Christian rock space.

Songs like Monster and Hero became radio staples, with Monster in particular connecting with listeners who responded to its themes of inner struggle. The track's driving rock arrangement and direct lyrics made it one of their most recognizable songs. Other tracks like Feel Invincible and Awake And Alive followed a similar pattern of anthemic rock with spiritual undertones.

Their music sometimes drew criticism from religious circles for blending spiritual and secular elements, but the band maintained their approach. They continued releasing albums like Unleashed in 2018 and Dominion in 2019, incorporating more electronic elements while keeping their rock foundation.
