SkiNex formed in São Paulo in 1991. They started playing live shows around the city, building a following before signing with Warner Music in 1996. That year they released their debut album, which included the track "Você Sabe o Que É Bom."
The band's lineup included Gustavo Ruiz on vocals and guitar, Marcelo Nova on bass and vocals, Tony Bizarro on drums, and Pepeu Gomes on guitar. They put out several albums through the early 2000s, including "Geração X" in 1998, "Pacto" in 2001, and "Quarto Mundo" in 2004.
In 2003, there was some talk about their song "Ferida Cruel" borrowing from a traditional folk melody, but nothing substantial came of it. They kept recording and performing.
