Sleepover was a Los Angeles band formed in the early 1970s by high school friends, including lead vocalist and guitarist Patrik Ryman, drummer Rick Lynch, and bassist Bob Nastanovich. They played local clubs, working out a sound that drew from punk, garage rock, and psychedelic pop.
Their self-titled debut album came out in 1973 and included 'Born to be Wild,' which became their best-known song. They released another album, 'Before the Dawn,' in 1975. Other tracks from their catalog include 'Bring The Ligh To Me,' 'Come To My Sleepover,' 'Everybody Have Fun Tonight,' and 'Flypaper.'
Patrik Ryman's raw vocals and lyrics about teenage restlessness gave the band its character. Their live shows were loud and energetic, which drew some criticism at the time but also built them a following as a band that felt genuinely young and unpolished.
