Sleepy Sun formed in San Francisco in 2003 around guitarist and vocalist Bret Constantino, bassist Matt Holliman, and drummer Brian Abel. Their sound drew from shoegaze and dream pop, with Constantino's lyrics often circling themes of loss and uncertainty.
They released their debut album 'Embrace' in 2005, followed by 'Fever' in 2008 and 'Vista' in 2010. Songs like 'Seaquest' and 'Marina' show their atmospheric, hypnotic style, built on hazy guitars and drifting melodies.
Sleepy Sun never broke through to wide commercial success, and their introverted approach sometimes kept them at a distance from the music industry. But they kept working on their own terms, putting out records that felt like their own private weather systems.
