Slipknot

Slipknot formed in Des Moines, Iowa in 1995. Their original lineup included Shawn Crahan on percussion, Joey Jordison on drums, Paul Gray on bass, Mick Thomson on guitar, Craig Jones on sampler, Sid Wilson on turntables, Chris Fehn on percussion, and Corey Taylor handling vocals. The masks and boiler suits became their visual signature, a kind of uniform that let the music speak first.

Their self-titled debut album arrived in 1999, followed by Iowa in 2001. Songs like "Wait and Bleed" and "(Sic)" from those early records established their sound, a dense, percussive assault that blended metal aggression with industrial textures. The band's lineup has seen changes over time, including the death of bassist Paul Gray in 2010.

They've released six studio albums in total, including Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) in 2004 and We Are Not Your Kind in 2019. Tracks like "Left Behind" and "The Devil In I" show how their music has evolved while keeping that core intensity. The masks remain, but what's underneath has always been a group of musicians working through something loud and complicated together.
