Slo was an Australian rock band that formed in Melbourne in 1976. They're best known for 'Shut Out of Paradise,' a song that became something of a classic in Australia. The track has a melancholic quality that people still respond to decades later.
They released several albums in the early 1980s, starting with 'Play It Strange' in 1980 and following with 'Blackwater' and 'Love and Hate.' Their sound had a straightforward rock feel with some blues and folk touches. The band included Russell Morris on vocals and guitar, Gary Hyde on guitar, Marc Hunter on bass, and Jon Farriss on drums.
Slo disbanded in 1984. There was a legal dispute over the rights to 'Shut Out of Paradise' in 2006 between Morris and Hunter, which Morris eventually won. The band reunited briefly to record 'Alchemy' in 2014.
