Slot formed in Novosibirsk in 2002 when Daria Stavrovich and Igor Lobanov, both previously in Amatory, started working together. They were joined by guitarist Sergei Bogolyubsky and drummer Vitaly Demidenko. Their first album, 'Step Forward,' came out soon after and found an audience in Russia's alternative rock scene.
Their music mixes hard rock with electronic textures, heard on tracks like 'Flash Mob' and 'Break The Code.' The 2006 album '2 Wars' leaned into heavier riffs, while 2009's 'F5' incorporated more programming. They released 'Breaking the Code' in 2017.
Stavrovich handles vocals and Lobanov keyboards and programming, with Bogolyubsky on guitar and Demidenko on drums. Their lyrics sometimes address social themes, which has occasionally drawn attention from authorities, but they've kept making music on their own terms.
