The Small Faces formed in 1965 with Steve Marriott on vocals and guitar, Ronnie Lane on bass, Kenney Jones on drums, and Jimmy Winston on keyboards. They had early singles like 'Whatcha Gonna Do About It' and 'Sha-La-La-La-Lee' that caught attention, and their 1966 album 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake' became a hit. Their sound pulled from rock and soul, with songs like 'Tin Soldier' and 'Itchycoo Park' showing their range.
Marriott's personality and the band's live energy sometimes caused friction, but they kept recording. 'Tin Soldier' started as a B-side to 'Lazy Sunday' but ended up more popular with fans. Other tracks like 'Afterglow Of Your Love' and 'Get Yourself Together' rounded out their work.
They put out four studio albums in a few years, including their self-titled 1966 debut. The original lineup shifted when Winston left early on, but the core of Marriott, Lane, and Jones held things together through their run.
