They released their most recognizable song, 'Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes),' as a single in 1969. The track's gentle melody and folk-rock feel gave it a quiet staying power, and it eventually found its way into films and television shows years later.
The band put out two albums in the early 1970s, 'For a Rainbow' in 1971 and 'Go' in 1973. They played a mix of folk and rock with some psychedelic touches, but never quite matched the reach of that first single. By 1975, SMYLES had broken up.
In 2005, the group got back together for a few live shows. Those performances drew some interest from fans who remembered 'Love Grows' and the band's earlier work. The song itself has outlasted the group, popping up now and then as a kind of soft-rock staple from that era.
