Background notes

Archive material and source history

Snake! Snake! Snakes! was a trio from the 1990s underground scene, led by vocalist Jennifer Parker with Paul Mazzolini on guitar and Philip Marshall on bass. They released two studio albums, starting with their 1997 debut 'We Come Out At Night,' which gave them an underground following. The title track from that album became something of an anthem for listeners drawn to their atmospheric sound.

Their music mixed goth-rock with experimental electronica, and they weren't particularly interested in mainstream expectations. Their second album, 'The Black River Falls,' came out in 1999 and included work with the industrial band Coil. They developed a loyal cult following despite some skepticism about their unconventional approach.
