Soap&Skin

Soap&Skin is the project of Austrian musician Anja Plaschg, who writes and performs songs that often feel like small, private worlds. Her debut album 'Lovetune for Vacuum' came out in 2009, and it included the stark, arresting track 'Me And The Devil.' She followed that with 'Narrow' in 2012 and 'From Gas to Solid/You Are My Friend' in 2018.

Her music pulls from classical piano, folk, and electronic textures, with her voice and piano usually at the center. The songs can feel sparse and haunted, like 'Thanatos' or 'Sugarbread,' but they're built with a careful, deliberate hand. She's also recorded versions of songs like 'What a Wonderful World' and 'Voyage Voyage,' reimagining them in her own atmospheric style.

Plaschg has been open about how her own experiences with mental health have shaped the work, which often circles themes of isolation and interior life. While some of her live performances have drawn attention for their intensity, the music itself remains the focus, quiet, detailed, and emotionally direct.
