Sofá a Jato

Sofá a Jato formed in Fortaleza, Brazil in the late 1990s, bringing together musicians with backgrounds in punk, reggae, and funk. Their early shows in local venues featured lyrics about poverty and police brutality, which sometimes drew criticism from authorities.

In 2003 they released their debut album "Resistência," with the track "Armadura" becoming something of an anthem. Other songs like "Bússola" and "Mapa" followed on later albums. The band faced pushback in 2005 for supporting land rights movements, though they kept performing and recording.

Their lineup has included founding members Leo on vocals, Bruno on guitar, and Paulinho on bass. They've worked with artists like Chico Science and Gilberto Gil. Over time their sound incorporated hip-hop and electronic elements, heard on albums like "Carnavalha" from 2015.
