Som da América

Som da América formed in Salvador, Bahia in 2003, with vocalist Léo Santana as their frontman. The group built a following through live shows before their 2011 single "Coração Largado" became a national hit in Brazil. That song's melody and Santana's delivery connected with listeners, making it one of their most recognizable tracks alongside others like "E Aí" and "Feito Bobo."

Their music draws from pagode and axé styles, with lyrics that sometimes drew criticism for being explicit or provocative. They kept recording through the 2010s, putting out albums like A Gente Fez a Festa in 2013 and No Meio da Rua in 2015. The band's lineup has included percussionist Carlinhos Brown and vocalists Xanddy, Ricardo Chaves, and Márcio Victor alongside Santana.

Som da América's catalog includes songs such as "Me Ame Sem Medo," "O Amor," and "Tem Dó," which maintained their presence on Brazilian playlists. Their sound, built around festive rhythms and direct lyrics, found an audience that responded to both the energy and the occasional bluntness in their material.
