Som Das Pedras came out of Rio de Janeiro's Lapa district in the early 1990s. The band had Serginho Meriti on vocals, Alexandre Carlo on bass, Leo Cavalcanti on guitars, and Baptista on drums. Their sound was raw and energetic, and their lyrics often dealt with social issues.
Their song "CPI do Amor" became a hit in Brazil. They toured through South America in those years.
They released albums like the self-titled 'Som Das Pedras' in 1997, 'Acústico MTV' in 1999, and 'Esquemática' in 2001. Later records included 'Discografia' in 2004 and 'Pra Nunca Mais Parar' in 2006.
