Som de Faculdade formed in 2013 in Fortaleza, Brazil, with Rafael Castro on vocals, Igor Melo on guitar, and Yuri Paz on bass. They were students at the Federal University of Ceará when they started playing together. Their first album came out in 2014, self-titled like the band.
In 2016 they released their second album, 'Xiu,' which included the track of the same name. That song got some attention on Brazilian rock charts. The band faced some criticism around 2017 about their lyrics, though the specifics aren't clear from what's documented.
They put out a third album called 'S.O.F.' in 2019. Felipe Felix joined on drums at some point. The band's name translates roughly to 'College Sound,' which fits with how they started.
