Son D'Richard formed in Cuba in the late 1970s, led by vocalist Richard Egües. Their debut album came out in 1982, and they had a core lineup that included Roberto García on drums, Reynaldo Vega on bass, and Miguel Pina playing tres.
Their most recognizable song is "Olvidala Corazón," which came out in 1988. It's a straightforward ballad about telling a heart to forget someone, built around Egües's vocal delivery.
They put out several albums through the 1980s, like "La Historia Continúa" in 1984 and "La Voz del Pueblo" in 1987. Their lyrics sometimes touched on social themes alongside more personal ones, which drew some attention at the time.
