Son de Cali formed in 1992 as a Colombian salsa band with five musicians: Alexis Lozano on vocals, Luis Enrique Becerra on keyboards, Oscar Botero on trumpet, Wilson Saoko on bass, and John Freddy López on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1996, and the track "Tan Buena" from it became their most recognizable song.
After some early momentum, the group broke up in 2001, reportedly connected to Lozano's personal struggles. They reunited a few years later, but Lozano left the band in 2009 following an accusation of sexual assault. The lineup that continued included Becerra, Botero, Saoko, and López, with Luis Salgado taking over on vocals.
Their catalog includes albums like "Mi Verdad" from 1998, "Yo Soy" from 2003, and "Respeto" from 2014. Other songs in their setlist include "Y Entonces," "Analizando," and "El Amor Es Mas Que Eso."
