Sonnar

Sonnar is a German synthwave band formed by producer Daniel Myer and singer Anke Hachfeld in the late 2000s. Their sound draws from influences like John Carpenter and Kraftwerk, creating atmospheric tracks that lean into synthwave's moody, immersive side. They've put out albums such as 'Priestess' in 2014 and 'A Stranger's Dream' in 2021, sticking to a core duo for most of their work.

Their 2012 single 'Linear' became a breakout track, known for its haunting synths and ethereal vocals. It helped define their place in the synthwave scene, and they followed it with songs like 'Nosso Momento'. Over time, they've collaborated with artists including Chris Corner of IAMX and Anneke van Giersbergen from The Gathering, though they've kept their lineup centered on Myer and Hachfeld.

In 2016, Sonnar faced a legal dispute over the rights to 'Linear', which was eventually resolved. They've continued releasing music since, with their later work maintaining the atmospheric quality that first caught attention.
