Sonnets

Sonnets formed in Lisbon in the early 2000s with Inês Lourenço on vocals and keyboards, Ricardo Ramos on guitar, Pedro Gonçalves on bass, and Luís Sá on drums. They started with an independent EP while playing small shows, working with a sound that leaned toward poetry and experimental arrangements at a time when Portuguese radio favored more straightforward pop and rock.

Their 2007 album 'A Sorte' gave them a wider audience, built around the title track's acoustic layers and Lourenço's vocals. That song, along with others like 'Dias Tão Longos' and 'Esquinas e Acasos', carried a reflective, sometimes melancholic tone that drew listeners even as it puzzled some critics who found it too downbeat for mainstream tastes.

They kept recording after that, putting out albums that held to their introspective style without chasing trends. The music stayed rooted in Lisbon's quieter spaces, more about mood and lyricism than big hooks or production tricks.
