Sonya Isaacs

Sonya Isaacs grew up in Bluefield, West Virginia, singing in church as a child before joining the family group The Isaacs. She toured and recorded with them before stepping out on her own. Her solo work includes songs like 'Healing Hands' and 'All I Want To Be Is Yours' that have found an audience in gospel and bluegrass circles.

In 2008, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent treatment that affected her voice. She returned to performing afterward. A few years later, her decision to play a concert organized by a conservative political group drew some criticism, which she addressed by saying she believed music could bring people together.

Her albums include the self-titled 'Sonya Isaacs' from 2013, 'Journey' in 2016, and 'Hallelujah for the Cross' in 2021. She performs with family members including Scott Isaacs on guitar, Ben Isaacs on mandolin, and Rebecca Isaacs Bowman on fiddle, along with Darren Scruggs on bass and Jason Brown on drums.
