Sound Food Gang was a Brazilian group that put out a few records in the mid-1990s. Their breakout track was 'Freestyle do Shaolin,' which gave its name to their 1993 album. They followed it with 'Shao Lin' in 1994 and 'Pílulas do Povo' in 1995.
Their sound mixed Afro-Brazilian rhythms with dance music, which drew some criticism at the time from listeners who preferred more traditional styles. The group included Paulo César de Lima on vocals, Éverton Baiano on percussion, Mauricio Lago on guitar, Serginho Herval on bass, and later Beto Jamaica on percussion and vocals.
Other songs from their catalog include 'K.O.,' 'Camisa de Anime,' 'Fumê,' and 'Freestyle do Dragão.'
