Space formed in Leicester, England in 1970 with vocalist Tommy Vance, guitarist Terry Manning, bassist Mick Bolton, drummer Keith Cross, and keyboardist Steve Parsons. Their debut album 'Magic Fly' came out in 1971, and the title track became their most recognizable song.
They released several albums through the 1970s including 'Deliverance' in 1972, 'Tinseltown Rebellion' in 1973, and 'Just Blue' in 1978. Other songs in their catalog include 'Neighbourhood' and 'Avenging Angels'.
The band experienced multiple lineup changes over their nearly two decades of activity. Their sound incorporated rock, jazz, and electronic elements, often with cosmic or science fiction themes.
