Space Ace formed in Osaka in 1997 with vocalist Hiroyuki Sawano, guitarist Masayoshi Ishihara, bassist Tsutomu Kameoka, and drummer Junji Yukawa. Their debut album 'Hoshi no Honoo ni' came out the following year.
That first album gave them some early attention, though their mix of rock, pop, and classical elements wasn't always an easy fit for critics at the time.
Later albums included 'Hoshi no Koe' in 2007, 'Zenith' in 2010, and 'Infinity' in 2014. Sawano handled vocals and lyrics, while Ishihara played guitar.
