Archive material and source history
Space Jam formed in San Francisco in 1992 with Matt Diamond on vocals and guitar, Jason Korzen on bass and vocals, John Dougherty on guitar, and Todd Roper on drums. Diamond and Korzen had played together before in The Veldt. Their debut album 'Stargazer' came out in 1994, followed by 'Mindreader' in 1997.
Their music got called 'existential pop' sometimes, which meant it could be pretty heavy. The song 'An Appointment with Sigmund' stirred up some talk about mental illness and how it was handled. It's one of their better-known tracks, along with 'Fuga' and 'Pills To Sleep Well'.
They weren't exactly a mainstream band. Their sound mixed some ethereal moments with rougher, noisier rock, and they didn't seem too concerned with fitting in. The records show a band working through their own ideas without much polish or compromise.
