Song for the Colour Yellow

When i was 14

I had a yellow shirt

With a huge flapping collar

I wore it to a party one saturday night

I thought i looked great

But i remember standing in a downstairs loo

While leone and her boyfriend

Sat on the floor outside

I remember hearing him say

"who the bloody hell is he?

Have you seen his shirt?"

And then laughing

I never wanted to wear it again since

Well i went to portobello last saturday

And there was my shirt

So i bought it back again

At primary school we had sets of crayons

Gorgeous short thick crayons

That looked even more beautiful

Once the labels had come off

And each crayon had a value

Red was seen to be worth the most

That's the one everybody wanted

Well red was okay

But i wanted yellow

When i was 7 i was given a yellow sweater

I loved that sweater

I wore it all the time

You know there's different kinds of yellow

Some are thin

And some are washed out

But this was so rich

It used to attract all the bees

And i wore it until the sleeves

And the round neck grew misshapen

Well i went to paul smith's the other day

And there was my sweater

But i couldn't afford to buy it
