Spellling is the project of Chrystia Cabral, who started making music in Toronto. Her first album, 'Pantheon of Me,' came out in 2014. She followed it with 'Mazy Fly' in 2016, which got some attention and was shortlisted for Canada's Polaris Music Prize.
Her songs like 'Boys At School' and 'Under The Sun' have a particular quality, they're built around synthesizers and her voice, which tends to float through the arrangements rather than drive them. The music doesn't settle into straightforward pop or dance rhythms; it moves at its own pace.
