Spinvis

Spinvis is the project of Erik de Jong, who started making music on his own in the early 2000s. He writes introspective songs, often with acoustic guitar and a quiet vocal style. The project grew into something more collaborative over time, with other musicians joining in to help shape the sound.

De Jong released the first Spinvis album in 2002. Later records like 'Dagen van Gras, Dagen van Stro' from 2005 and 'Ja, Ja, Nee, Nee' from 2011 continued in a similar vein, melodic, thoughtful, and a little melancholic. Songs like 'Voor Ik Vergeet' and 'Aan de Oevers Van de Tijd' are good examples of his approach: plain-spoken but poetic, with arrangements that feel both careful and loose.

He has worked with musicians including Elwin van der Kolk on guitar and bass, Bart van der Woerd on drums, Jacco van der Steen on keyboards, and Saartje van Leer on violin. The music doesn't try to be grand or anthemic; it's more like someone thinking out loud, with space for the listener to settle in.
