Spiritualized

Spiritualized formed in 1990 after Jason Pierce's previous band Spacemen 3 dissolved. Their first album, 'Lazer Guided Melodies,' came out in 1992 and established their sound, which drew from Krautrock, psychedelic folk, and gospel. The track 'Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space' became one of their most recognizable songs.

In the mid-1990s, they released 'Pure Phase' and 'Let It Come Down,' albums that incorporated more orchestral arrangements and gospel choirs. Pierce's personal struggles during this period were noted, though the band kept working. Songs like 'Hold On' and 'Lay It Down Slow' reflect the mix of vulnerability and expansive sound that characterized their output.

They continued putting out records into the 2000s and beyond, with tracks like 'So Long You Pretty Thing' showing their ongoing interest in layered, atmospheric rock. The band's lineup has shifted over time, with Pierce remaining the constant figure steering their direction.
