Spookie Daly Pride formed around Brad Skistimas in the late 1980s after his previous band, The Great Unwashed, dissolved. They put out their first album, 'Parlour Games,' in 1989. The track 'Big Car' became their most recognizable song, with its moody, introspective feel that defined much of their work.
Through the 1990s, they released albums like 'Jake's Lament' in 1993 and 'The Blue Album' in 1997. The lineup shifted at times, but Skistimas, guitarist Danny West, and drummer Gary Taninbaum were the core during those years. Their sound pulled from folk and country with a psychedelic edge, which gave their live shows a particular atmosphere.
After some time off in the early 2000s, Skistimas revived the band name and recorded more material, including 'Modern Primitive' in 2007. Their music has stayed in circulation mainly through 'Big Car' and a handful of other tracks that fans still seek out.
