Spooky Black

Spooky Black is the moniker of Corbin Shiah, who started making music as a teenager in Los Angeles. His early work drew from artists like Radiohead, Bon Iver, and Frank Ocean, leaning into atmospheric production and personal themes. The song "Without U" from his 2015 debut EP "Leaving" became a breakout track, gathering millions of streams and landing him on Spotify's "Fresh Finds" playlist.

After "Leaving," he put out a series of EPs including "Black to Fade" in 2016 and "All I Ever Wanted" in 2018, each shifting slightly in tone from introspective to more dance-oriented sounds. In 2020 he released his first full-length album, "Blush," which moved toward more polished production while keeping his emotional, ethereal style intact. Other songs like "Reason," "Welcome To The Hell Zone," and "Pull" reflect that same blend of moody electronics and raw lyricism.

Spooky Black has performed at festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza, and though he works mostly solo, he has collaborated with musicians such as Matt Blistan and Julian Shah-Tayler. In 2017 he faced sexual misconduct allegations, which led to canceled shows and a public apology where he acknowledged his past behavior and pledged to be more accountable.
