Spoon

Spoon formed in Austin, Texas in 1993 around Britt Daniel on vocals and guitar, Jim Eno on drums, and Rob Pope on bass. Their early albums, like 1996's 'Telephono' and 1998's 'A Series of Sneaks,' established a sound built on angular melodies and raw energy that caught the attention of critics.

A few years later, the 2001 EP 'Soft Effects' and its single 'The Way We Get By' gave the band a wider audience, reaching the Billboard Modern Rock chart. This led to a steady run of albums through the 2000s, including 'Kill the Moonlight' and 'Gimme Fiction,' that refined their approach without losing its sharp edges.

Songs like 'The Underdog' and 'I Turn My Camera On' became staples, balancing catchy hooks with Daniel's distinctive, slightly detached vocal delivery. The band has continued putting out records from their Austin base, with albums like 'Lucifer on the Sofa' arriving decades after they started.
