Sprung Monkey came out of Southern California in the early 2000s with a sound that mixed reggae, hip-hop, and rock. Their song 'So Cal Loco' caught on locally, and they built a following with energetic shows. The band was led by singer and guitarist Mike Pinto, with Aaron Barrett on bass, Brad Norwood on drums, and Robbie Allen on keyboards.
They put out their first album, 'Jumping the Fence,' in 2004. 'So Cal Loco' was the single that got them wider attention, landing them a spot on the Warped Tour. Later albums like 'Thunder Road' and 'Surferosa' kept them going through the rest of the decade.
