St. Even

St. Even formed in East London in the late 1990s around vocalist Sarah Negrain, guitarist Chris Black, and bassist Mike Rodway. They released their debut album 'Dreams' in 2004, which included the track 'Dreams / My Rope' that gained some attention for its atmospheric quality.

Their music developed over several albums including 'My Rope' in 2006, 'The Pull' in 2010, and 'Cosmos' in 2013. Negrain's background in classical training sometimes surfaced in their arrangements, though they mostly worked within an alternative rock framework with some electronic touches.

Some critics found Negrain's vocal delivery intense, and the band faced the ordinary challenges of maintaining creative momentum while dealing with personal matters. They kept recording through the 2000s and into the early 2010s, putting out albums every few years without much fanfare beyond their core listeners.
