Star Friend formed in 2013 when three friends, Renato Sheik, Saulo Bernard, and Junior Mendes, started making music together. Their song 'Noitada' came out in 2015 and caught on in Brazil, becoming their most recognizable track.
They released a debut album also called 'Noitada' in 2016, followed by 'Tudo ou Nada' in 2018 and 'Novo' in 2021. The band's lineup has remained Renato Sheik on vocals, Saulo Bernard handling instruments and production, and Junior Mendes on drums.
In 2019, there was some noise about a leaked demo and plagiarism accusations, which the band denied. They kept playing shows and putting out music through that period.
