Steklovata formed in 1986 in Novosibirsk, Siberia. Their name translates to 'fiberglass,' which gives a sense of their rough-edged approach. The original lineup included Sergei Bugaev on vocals and guitar, Vladimir Konovalov on bass and vocals, and Vyacheslav Misyuchenko on drums.
That same year they released their first album 'Pervoe Priblizhenie' and the 'Novii God' album. Other songs like 'Prosto Osen' and 'Korablik' show their range.
They released several albums through the early 1990s, including 'Russkiy Rok' in 1990 and 'Poezd' in 1992. The band disbanded in 2004 but reunited in 2018 for a special concert.
