Just How It Feels

From out of the corner of grandfather's eye

There sparkles a knowledge of living

For years he has learned to get by with what he is

For he lives in a world full of giving

Time and again, he has told me about when

We danced just to celebrate our freedom

I surely think he knows just how it feels

From out of the kitchen, my grandmother smiles

She's baked what she knows I will savor

She recalls an old story and we laugh very hard

At all of the mischief I gave her

And as she grows old she has memories to hold

And love soothes the pain in her body

And when I lay down many miles from my home

Well, I see them, I feel them, they're around me

'Good morning' they say as they greet the new day

Always busy and knowing no boundaries

Grandfather is clear, his words ring in my ear

Life is just what you will make it
