Stone Wayner formed in Brasília during the mid-1990s, playing small clubs around the capital. The band was led by singer-songwriter Ivan Wayner, with Felipe Cordeiro on bass, Thiago Carrasqueira on drums, and Raquel Almeida adding cello to their sound. They signed a record deal in 2002.
Their first album, 'Anéis de Saturno,' came out in 2003 and gave them their signature song of the same name. They followed it with 'Todos os Dias' in 2005 and 'A Vida Passa' in 2008. Their music mixed rock and pop with those cello melodies, heard on tracks like 'Chegar Até Você' and 'Escrito Nas Estrelas (Radio Edit).'
In 2006, Ivan Wayner was arrested for drug possession, which brought some unwanted attention. The band kept going through it, finishing that third album before things went quiet.
