Strangelove formed in Los Angeles in 1964, with Rick Springfield as vocalist and songwriter. They worked with producer Phil Spector, and in 1965 released "I Want Candy," which became a hit.
After that initial success, the band saw several lineup changes. Springfield left in 1968 to go solo. Their other songs included "20th Century Cold" and "Beautiful Alone."
