Stray Pet Club formed in Madrid as an indie pop band with four members: Pablo García on vocals, Miguel Ángel Arenas on drums, Pablo Fernández on guitar, and Carlos Ruiz on bass. They started putting out music around 2015 with an EP called 'Urbanization,' which included the song 'Apartamento.'
Their early material mixed indie pop with some electronic touches and Spanish folk elements. They played shows around Spain and Europe, building a following with live performances that felt direct and unguarded.
At one point they got caught up in a plagiarism dispute with another Spanish group, which they denied. The whole thing blew up in the press for a while, but they kept working. After 'Urbanization' they released more music, including songs like 'Don't Let Her Lure You!' and 'Não Vou Tentar.'
