Strung Out

Strung Out formed in California in 1990 with Jake Kiley on vocals, Jason Cruz and Rob Ramos on guitars, Jim Cherry on bass, and Jordan Burns on drums. They signed with Fat Wreck Chords in 1994, which gave them a stable home in the punk scene. Their early albums like 'Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues' and 'Twisted by Design' established their mix of punk aggression and melodic guitar work.

Songs like 'Matchbook' and 'Calling' show how they balanced speed with tunefulness, avoiding the simple three-chord approach of some punk bands. Their lyrics often dealt with personal struggles and social issues, though they never became preachy about it. They kept releasing albums through the 2000s and 2010s, including 'An American Paradox' and 'Transmission.Alpha.Delta'.

They toured consistently, building a following that appreciated both their energy and their musical craftsmanship. While never breaking into mainstream popularity, they maintained a steady presence in punk circles, respected for sticking to their sound without repeating themselves album after album.
