Submundanos

Submundanos formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s, a group of musicians drawn to raw, experimental sounds. Their name translates to "subterranean" or "underground," which fit their position outside mainstream Brazilian music. The band's core members included Cláudio Assis on vocals, Andréa Martins on guitar, Pedro Moras on bass, and Rodrigo Lima on drums.

Their music blended post-punk, noise, industrial, and ambient elements into dense, atmospheric textures. Lyrics tended toward the cryptic and introspective, touching on alienation and despair. They released several albums, including "Demônio" and "Mundo Ruim," that explored these darker themes.

In 2005, Submundanos put out "A Brisa," which became something of an underground anthem in Brazil. The track's hypnotic rhythms and ethereal vocals connected with alternative listeners, giving the band a cult following. Their unconventional approach and confrontational performances sometimes drew criticism, but they maintained a commitment to their artistic vision.
