Subsolo - Ordem de Despejo

Their early lineup included vocalist Zé Antônio, guitarist Celso Pirata, bassist Cláudio Botão, and drummer André Jung. The band took its name from José Saramago's novel 'Ensaio Sobre a Cegueira,' which also became the title of their 1991 album.

Their music channeled the political tension of that era into a raw hardcore sound, with lyrics that addressed social injustice directly. Songs like 'Ordem de despejo' and 'Destruir' carried that confrontational energy, while 'Papo de Futuro' and 'Loop' showed different sides of their approach. They released several albums through the 1990s, including 'Discos Embrulhados em Plástico' in 1993 and 'Uma Gota de Sangue em Cada Verso' in 1998.

Subsolo faced censorship and police repression during their early years, which only sharpened their lyrical focus. They returned in 2008 with 'Domingo,' an album that balanced their characteristic aggression with more vulnerable moments. The band's work remains rooted in that specific time and place, São Paulo in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when hardcore became a vehicle for dissent.
