Suede formed in London in 1989, with Brett Anderson on vocals and Bernard Butler on guitar. Their 1992 debut single 'The Drowners' became an instant hit, and their self-titled debut album went to number one in the UK the following year. That record helped establish them as one of the early bands in what would become known as Britpop.
Bernard Butler left the band in 1994, shortly after the recording of their second album, 'Dog Man Star.' The band regrouped and released 'Coming Up' in 1996, which contained singles like 'Trash' and 'Beautiful Ones.' Their sound on later albums like 'Head Music' shifted away from the darker textures of their early work.
After a hiatus that began in 2003, Suede reunited in 2010. They have released several albums since, including 'Night Thoughts' in 2016 and 'The Blue Hour' in 2018.
