Sullen Guest

Sullen Guest formed when vocalist Niko Amstell, guitarist Alex Boniello, and drummer Paul Dellar started playing together. Their music tends toward alternative rock with some post-punk and shoegaze textures, though they don't fit neatly into any single category.

They've released an EP called "The Quiet Hour" and a full-length album titled "Altered State." The album shares its name with their track "Altered State," which has become one of their better-known songs. Other songs like "Decay Of Innocence" and the two-part "Denial" and "Desolate" tracks show their interest in extended, moody compositions.

Lyrically, they often work with themes of isolation and self-examination. Amstell's vocals carry much of that emotional weight, while Boniello's guitar work builds layered atmospheres around them. They haven't put out a large volume of recorded work, but what exists has a consistent, brooding character.
