Superdrag came out of Knoxville, Tennessee in the mid-1990s, led by John Davis. Their debut album 'Regretfully Yours' had a track called 'Sucked Out' that got some attention, and they built a sound that pulled from power pop and grunge without settling neatly into either.
They're probably still best known for 'Annetichrist,' a song whose title and lyrics stirred up accusations of anti-Semitism at the time. The band had to explain themselves, and it became a kind of signature piece, even appearing on later compilations. Other songs like 'Who Sucked Out' and 'Amphetamine' show their knack for melodic, guitar-driven rock with a slightly frayed edge.
After a few more albums, including 'In the Valley of Dying Stars,' the group called it quits in 2003. The original lineup featured Davis on vocals and guitar, Brandon Fisher on bass, Sam Powers on guitar, and Don Coffey III on drums.
