Sygma formed in Athens in the early 2000s, with Nikos Antoniou on vocals, Michalis Sigalas on guitar, Vasilis Papatzanis on bass, and Dimitris Dimitriou on drums. They started playing small venues, working out a sound that mixed Greek rhythms with pop structures. Their first album was called 'Late' in 2007.
Some of their lyrics drew criticism for touching on infidelity and social norms, which the band didn't shy away from. They kept recording, putting out albums like 'Espera' in 2010 and 'Ethos' in 2014. Songs like 'Lejos Del Miedo' and 'Lo Que Uno Elige' show their blend of traditional elements with straightforward pop arrangements.
They've worked with other Greek artists including George Dalaras and Eleftheria Arvanitaki.
