Sygyzy

Sygyzy formed in Rio de Janeiro around 2015 with Bruno Fantinati on vocals and guitar, Carlos Dias on drums, and Rafael Peixoto on bass. They started playing alternative rock with some prog influences, though the specifics about Pink Floyd and Radiohead feel like standard press-kit references. Their first album 'Transição' came out in 2017, followed by 'Marés' in 2020.

Their song 'Naufragio' became their most recognizable track. It's a ballad built around a shipwreck metaphor, dealing with loss and trying to find some footing afterward. The existing history calls it an anthem, but it's really just the song people know them for.

Some critics found their early work too experimental, which the band took in stride. They kept recording, and by 'Marés' they'd settled into a sound that felt more deliberate. They're still playing from Rio, working the same lineup they started with.
