Syria formed in Salerno, Italy, with vocalist Syria, drummer Giovanni Imparato, bassist Francesco De Gregori, and keyboardist Lavinia Mancusi. Their first album, 'Noi non ci saremo,' came out in 1993, followed by 'Aria' in 1995. The song 'Chiudo Gli Occhi' became a hit for them.
They kept releasing albums through the 1990s and 2000s, including 'Il giorno dopo' in 1999 and 'Un giorno nuovo' in 2003. Other songs like 'Non Ci Sto' and '1968' are part of their catalog. Their music drew some criticism for being sentimental, but they kept working on their own terms.
Syria's last album listed here is 'Come l'acqua' from 2009. Their earlier material, especially 'Chiudo Gli Occhi,' still gets played.
